Lavrion

Position : 37° 42.0' N / 024° 04.0' E
Lavrion is located south-east of Piraeus, close to the eastern tip of the Attica Peninsula. It is only 20 minutes from the international airport El Venizelos.
Both the commercial port and inter-island ferry terminal have been upgraded recently with EU funds.

The commercial port has about 680 metres of quays, of which only 300 metres are usually available daily. The commercial quays accept vessels of no more than 120-140 metres LOA and max draught of 8.50 metres. They are mostly used for loading/discharging general cargo, containers (feeder ships) and various non-hazardous dry bulks.

Pilotage is compulsory for the port and for the anchorage of Lavrion. The pilot usually boards (whether permitting) at 37o41'N/24o05ŽE for southbound vessels and at 37o45ŽN/024o 05ŽE for northbound vessels.

In addition Lavrion port has a busy marina, Olympic Marine S.A. (http://www.olympicmarine.gr/m3-en.htm), operated to international standards and one of the most modern and secure marinas in the Mediterranean. The marine has 680 berths, a repair unit, 700 dry slots, travel lifts of 45, 65 and 200 tons, and experienced personnel for any kind of maintenance, with repair teams of your choice. The marina also provides 24-hour surveillance by a private security company.

Finally Lavrio Roads is an ideal stop for transit vessels for crew change, picking up stores, inspections and other purposes, vessels heading from Gibraltar to the Black Sea or vice versa have to make only a minor deviation from their course.
